Bratislava New Year's Concert 2025
This year’s concert promises to be an exceptional event that has been planned since the start of 2024. The programme and dramaturgy have been sensitively and lovingly composed, which combined with the performers, have led us a Nordic mythology theme that connects the nine worlds. Our New Year's concert remains faithful to the Austro-Hungarian festive tradition, yet also unites the ‘nine-world’ performers and music for the audience’s delight and to pleasantly ease the passage into the new year.
We are of the persuasion that the ‘unity’ theme should be the concert’s key message for wider society next year: diversity that is respected, mutually inclusive and complementary, and showcasing beautiful classical music enriched with modern arrangements to aptly illustrate the unifying spirit.
The main performer guest – leading pianist and composer AyşeDeniz Gökçin – will wow the audience with her artistic personality and expression, as she has done with captivated listeners around the world. Especially for BNK 2025, she is combining two works by Beethoven to create a unique orchestral composition that will debut in Bratislava’s Hall of Mirrors on New Year's Day. Coming from Turkey and residing in the United States, she also combines several worlds and cultures. Her musical energy is balanced by the experienced and extremely likeable Three Tenors: Alessandro Fortunato, Francesco Fortes and Stefano Sorrentino. Coming straight from Naples, Italy, they will deliver the warm and peaceful caress of white canta, followed by a playful specially-adapted Irish folk song performed by violinist Peter Uličný, accompanied by Magdaléna Mátušová – the experienced Nordic dance master.
Our honoured guests will be accompanied throughout the programme by the chamber Bratislava Metropolitan Orchestra led by Dušan Štefánek.
We trust that you will enjoy this fine event with us - either live in the hall or re-live on January 5, 2025 at 12:50 p.m. on Dvojka.
And remember: "New Year’s Day sets the all-year template."
